This sauce is super quick and easy. Certainly very delicious and we almost always have it when we know steak is being served. Its just like salt and pepper, it just goes together. Every time someone mentions steak for dinner its guaranteed one of us will be like ooh mushroom sauce and then salivate at the idea.
When i was younger and we were out gallivanting for the day, my mother’s friend would stop for lunch and guaranteed i’d order fries with mushroom sauce on the side. Most times the sauce wasn’t that great, it wasn’t creamy and sometimes tasted like it came from a packet sauce and was mixed with water. Not to often but sometimes you’d find that one place that made you think ‘now this is how you make mushroom sauce’. It wasn’t until my husband made mushroom sauce that i was like JACKPOT ding ding ding and my taste buds were shouting out we have a winner!. Thinking back now i was never bothered to try make it. But knowing now how easy it is i’m definitely not ever hesitant to make it.
Ingredients
- 250ml fresh cream
- oil for frying
- 250 grams diced mushrooms
- 1Tbs flour (any flour will do)
- 1tsp crushe garlic ( if you’d like)
- spices used
- garlic salt
- pepper
- aromat
- dried thyme
Direction
Heat oil in a pot. Once warm add your mushroom for frying and fry for about 2-3 minutes.
Add your spices and crushed garlic except the thyme stirring to make sure its mixed.
Once there is quite a bit of liquid then add your flour and mix. Make sure the flour soaks up all the liquid and this will ensure the sauce thickens nicely.
Then add the cream and the thyme and keep stirring till it thickens. You can then turn the heat down so that it doesn’t cook to quick. This part normally takes about 8-10 minutes. if to thick you can add more cream or even a little of milk.
Taste and see if you need more salt or pepper and then Voilá. Let your taste buds sing.
You’re welcome;-)
Yummy and easy
